A Message from the President

Greeting Fellow Lions,

During this month's board meeting, we discussed the following topics:

  1. The Cub Scout charter was evaluated and voted on for another year. The pack is looking for a few good volunteers to fill some of the positions on the Pack Committee. Anyone with previous Scout leader experience, please contact Lion Paul Russell (784-9094).
  2. The chicken and pork chop sale was a success. Thanks to all Lions who worked on this project, especially Lion Howard Heines and Lion Dave Grenert.
  3. The golf outing will be held June 14 and the preparations are well in place with Lions Howard Heines and Jon Roush leading the way.
  4. The bicycle run will be held June 28 and it will be called "Lions Pride Ride". Lions Jim Foster and Rose Russell are working on this event.
  5. Lion Jan Dimick will participate in three-day walk-a-thon in Chicago to raise funds for breast cancer. She was involved last year. She has asked two of her friends to join her. Jan has been in touch with several ladies from her church that have been touched with cancer, and she feels strongly about doing what she can to help. She needs all of the help she can get, and she wants your support. Please contact her if you can help.
  6. We need some names for the W.P. Woods award, also the Melvin Jones award. Please let the officers know what your choices are.

I greatly appreciate all the fantastic work the Lions have done this month. They should be congratulated.

Thanks so much.

Your President, Ben

Dues Are Due

In an effort to ensure that Lions Club membership remains affordable for all Lions, the club charges only $40 per Lion per year for dues, despite the fact that the club must pay $51.90 per Lion per year for LCI, state, and district dues. The difference is made up from the club's administrative fund. Several Lions have not yet paid their dues for the 2007-2008 Lions' year. If you are one of these Lions, please do your fair share and pay your dues. If you are not sure whether you owe dues, please contact Lion Rob Hochschild (231-8049) or Lion Rose Russell (784-9094).

Thought for the Month

It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope.   --   Robert Kennedy
