Lakeville Lions Club

It's a girl! Sue and I are proud first-time grandparents. Our son Scott and his wife Allison welcomed their first child, a girl, Elyse Ruby Grenert, on February 5. The family is doing very well.
We are raising dues for the next year to $50.00. As I reported in the July newsletter, we face a $16.00 shortage on every member and therefore this increase was necessary. We will review this again next year to determine if we need to go higher.
The District 25-G Convention will be held on Saturday, March 6 at Christo's Banquet Center in Plymouth. Registration will begin at 8:30am. The dinner cost is $19.00 from now until February 17. After February 17, the cost will be $22.00. Send check to CST PDG Ann Haffner at 11268 North State Road 13, Syracuse, IN 46567. Checks made payable to District 25-G. All reservations must be received by March 1. Come and support our own Lion VDG Paul Russell, who will be elected as the new District Governor.
I know it is still winter but baseball is just around the corner. With that in mind, I am pleased to announce that Owen Seary, radio broadcaster for the South Bend Silverhawks will be our guest speaker at the February Dinner Meeting. Owen will share with us how the Hawks serve needs in the community. If you wish to attend but are not on the dinner list, please call Lion Jean Barlow by Sunday, February 21.
We are invited to Lion Ruth Whaley's birthday party at Pine Creek Church, on Saturday, February 20 from 3-5pm. No gifts please. I believe Lion Ruth is going to be around 35 years old soon! Congrats to Lion Ruth.
Plans are being made by Lion Sharon Feitz for our Annual Fish Fry on Friday, April 2nd. Lion Sharon needs your help. Please plan on working.
If you haven't paid your dues yet please do so now! If you are more than 12 months past due you will be dropped from the club on June 30 so please pay up.
We need a candidate for Third Vice President and 2 for Board of Directors. If you know of a Lion who you think would do a good job, contact Lion First Vice President Mike Wozny with names. Elections of officers will take place at the April Dinner Meeting. Only Lions in good standing with current dues paid will be considered.
We have a new member induction at the February Dinner Meeting. Long time Lakeville resident, Loren Richards is joining us. Please make him feel welcome.
If you turn in a membership application you must include sponsor fee and member dues at that time. Contact Lion Jim Foster for details.
We will have a new member orientation meeting at the Lakeville Library on Wednesday, March 3, at 7pm. All who need a refresher course on Lionism are invited. Contact Lion Rose Russell or Lion Jim Foster for details.
