From the Desk of
Lion Dave Grenert, President
Lakeville Lions Club
April 15, 2010
As we approach warmer weather, we look forward to outside activities. Our Lions Club has many such events coming up. May 15 is the Port-a-Pit chicken and pork chop sale to benefit Lakeville Town Parks. Lion Howard Heines will be contacting some of you to work and sell tickets. We also have space available to set up tables and sell goods. Contact me for those details.
PDG Dave Court is finalizing plans with Lion Jon Roush for our Annual Golf Scramble in June. More details to follow.
June 12th is the Greene Township Lions Strawberry Festival. Lion Bob Feitz is again organizing help selling chicken and pork chops. Let Lion Bob know how you can help him.
On June 26, Lion Don Milzarek is heading up our parade. The theme this year is The 1960s. If you can help contact Lion Don. Also on June 26 is the Lions Pride Ride being led by Lion Jim Foster. A Pancake Breakfast will be served for that event.
For our “inside activities”, we have a lot of things coming up as well. First, is the Lions State Convention Friday, April 23 through Sunday, April 25. This will be at the Century Center in South Bend. There is no cost to attend this convention. We are hosting the Friday night dinner at The Newton Center. If you have not signed up to attend it's not too late. See me by Wednesday, April 21st . Cost is $15. per person. You MUST have a reservation.
Our Dinner Meeting this month is something different. A Chili Cook-Off!! The cost is $5. to eat and help decide who in our club makes the best chili. Drinks and cookies will be provided. Lion Ruth Whaley will also provide corn bread.

In May, we will sponsor a concert at The Newton Center to benefit the 3-Day Cancer Walk in Chicago. Lion Larry Dimick is organizing the event and will be performing. All proceeds will be donated to local participants in the 3-Day Cancer Walk. More details will be announced in the next newsletter.
A big thanks goes out to Lion Sharon Feitz for her great job in organizing the Fish Fry. She has asked me to send a thank you to all that helped. I would like to name all that helped but I am afraid I would leave someone out. But I will thank Lion Mike Wozny for taking on the task of ordering all the supplies. At this time we don't have a final total of what we made in terms of profit but we know that event was very successful. Again, THANK YOU TO ALL THAT HELPED!
Lions Ed Gorka, Chuck Gaines, Regina Edwards, Sherry Kubisiak, Morgan Thomas and myself scattered 9000 plastic Easter eggs on three fields at Newton Park and watched hundreds of kids gather them quickly. On one field 3000 eggs were picked up in an amazing time of 56 seconds! Thanks to those who helped.
Thanks goes out to Lion Max Feitz for welding a trailer to make our second sign “portable”.
If you washed your new T-shirts you may have noticed that purple washed out. The shirts will be replaced at no charge and you can also keep the old ones.
District 25-G is hosting a picnic at The Cove in South Bend on Saturday, May 8. The picnic starts at 4:30 and last until 6:30. Game time if 5:30 and cost is $15. See me by May 5 if you want to go.
Please support District Governor-Elect Lion Paul Russell this coming year. Let's show District 25-G why the best leaders come from the Lakeville Lions Club.
